<p>An intraocular lens comprises an optic portion (22) and at least one flexible haptic portion (20) projecting from the periphery of the optic portion (22). The haptic portion (20) includes a first segment (28) which extends from the optic portion at an acute angle (c). A second segment (30) of the haptic portion extends in an arc having one or more radii of curvature smaller than the radius of the optic portion (22) and at least one centre of curvature on the side of the haptic portion opposite the acute angle (c). A third segment (32) of the haptic portion (20) extends in an arc having at least one radius of curvature greater than the radius of the optic portion (22). The broad sweeping shape of the haptic portion (20) provides a greater resistance to de-centering of the optic portion when in place in the eye.</p> |
