PURPOSE:To obtain a small sized thermal head of a high speed, by a method wherein the present thermal head is constructed by containing a thermal resistor array which is arranged near the crest of a projection part of an insulator substrate and of which both ends are connected to leads, and a heating element arranged in a depressed part formed on a rear side of the insulator substrate correspondingly to the projection part. CONSTITUTION:On an aluminum insulator substrate 1, a common lead 3 and a plurality of leads l1 are formed in a pattern, a thermal resistor array 2 is formed in a R-R' line between the common lead 3 and a plurality of the leads 1, and they are set on a press machine. The insulator substrate is worked by bending so that the thermal resistor array 2 becomes a crest part and a projection part 1a is formed. Then, a resistance protective film 6 is stuck to a surface of the thermal resistor array 2 of the substrate projection part 1a, and further, a driving IC 4 is protected with silicone resin or the like by connecting a connection terminal e1 of a substrate side face part to an electrode of the driving IC 4. Then, a heating material 5 is arranged or stored in a depressed part 1b of a rear face corresponding to the projection part 1a on which the thermal resistor array 2 is mounted, and a heat reflector 7 is added thereto. Therefore, the thermal head becomes small sized and light weighted one, and high speed printing recording becomes possible. |
