An organic binder is removed from a paste by means of a firing device which comprises a thermostat (3) for adjusting the temperature. A new control mechanism enables the firing process to be carried out in a short period of time without crack formation or delamination occurring in the product. For that purpose the firing device comprises a weighing device (5) to determine the weight of the paste and a control device (6) between the weighing device (5) and the thermostat (3) with which the temperature is controlled to obtain a desired variation in time of the weight reduction rate of the paste.
