A process for coating a tube insulation shell, esp. one made of mineral fibres, includes using a heating roller and a thermally activatable adhesive. In the front position the free end of the film containing the adhesive coating is angled slightly downwards using an axially parallel rail. The film is then positioned at the heating roller section, and the roller is moved w.r.t. the insulating shell.
