PURPOSE:To improve the durability of a mechanical constituting part which is concerned with a collision with an infinity position of a lens by a decelerating a driving speed of the lens before the lens reaches a terminal position at the time of executing low contrast scan. CONSTITUTION:At the time of a regularly detecting focus, a lens 1 is driven toward a focusing position, based on a result of detection of a focus detecting means 2. When the present position NL of the lens 1 is not within a prescribed distance NA from an end point position Nmax being in the driving direction of the lens 1, a speed control means 11 drives the lens 1 at a first speed V1. When a position NL is within the prescribed distance NA from a position NMAX, and also, the driving direction of the lens 1 is the direction going to the position NMAX, a speed for driving the lens is controlled by a scan control means 5 so that the lens 1 is driven at a second speed V2 being lower than the speed V1. In such a way, the durability of a mechanical constituting part which is concerned in a collision with an infinity position of the lens can be improved. |
