发明名称 ALKALINE ZINC SECONDARY BATTERY
摘要 PURPOSE:To suppress the growth of electrodeposited zinc which may cause the internal short circuit of an alkaline zinc secondary battery by effectively inhibiting elution of zincate ions by using a negative zinc electrode the surface of which is convered with a polyacetylene film. CONSTITUTION:After mixture powder consisting of 90 parts zinc oxide active material powder and 10 parts mercury oxide powder is mixed with 10% to the mixture powder of polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion liquid, the mixture is diluted with water and kneaded. Next, the kneaded mixture is rolled several times so as to form a zinc active material sheet with a given thickness, which is then pressed and stuck to both surfaces of a negative current-collecting member 2, thereby making a negative zinc electrode 1. After that, a polyacetylene film 3 is provided over the surface of the negative zinc electrode 1. When a nickel-zinc secondary battery constituted by the means mentioned above is repeatedly and alternately subjected to charging performed at a current of 0.25 deg.C for 4hr and discharging performed at a current of 0.25 deg.C for 3hr, it will be found that the cycle characteristic of the battery is greatly improved. Such a great improvement of the cycle characteristic is caused due to the fact that any internal short circuit which might be caused due to the growth of zinc dendrite is prevented since elution of zincate ions into electrolyte is suppressed.
