<p>PURPOSE:To easily discriminate a jaw interval capable of obtaining the max. occlusal pressure, by providing a jaw interval variable means interposed between both upper and lower jaws and capable of adjusting the interval therebetween and an occlusal pressure display means for detecting and displaying the occlusal pressure applied to said jaw interval variable means. CONSTITUTION:A base plate 19 and a jaw interval variable means 12 are inserted in the oral cavity of a patient to be mounted to the upper jaw 18. Thereafter, a rubber tube is pressed to inject air in a cylinder 6 to allow a piston 5 to protrude and a contact plate 7 is applied to a residual ridge 13 to widen a jaw interval. The patient is allowed to take chewing operation while said interval is widened little by little and the occlusal pressure at that time is read by a display means. This operation is repeated to determine a position where the max. occlusal pressure is obtained and a lock screw 16 is rotated in this state to fix the piston 15 and the jaw interval is held to a definite value. In this state, the force of the masseter is released and it is confirmed that the contact plate 7 is opened by about 2-3mm from the surface of the residual ridge 13. By the generation of this gap, it is confirmed that this position is a central occlusal position.</p> |
