<p>The boiler (1) is a U shaped tube, closed at both ends, mounted at an angle of 45 deg. to the horizontal. Water is fed into the boiler (1) from a reservoir (8) via an electric pump (9). The pump is controlled by a thermostat (12), mounted on the lower arm (2) of the boiler, which switches the pump (9) on and off as the water level falls and rises. The water is eated by an electric heater (4) and as the pressure rises the tube tends to straighten so that the setting screw (7) moves away from a microswitch (5) which switches off the heater. The control of the input of cold water by the thermostat (12) and of the steam pressure and switch (5) provides a constant supply of steam which emerges from the boiler through a port (13) under the control of an electric valve which is operated by a push button in the appliance in which the boiler is incorporated.</p> |
