In a first stage CaCO3 is added to the water in equimolar quantities to the Fe2+ content. In a second stage CaCO3 is added in equimolecular quantities to the H2CO3 content. The plant can comprise three parts: The first vessel contains the incoming iron-containing water where CaCO3 is added. CO2 is given off. The water is transferred to second vessel when more CaCO3 is added. In the third stage Fe(OH)3 is sepd. out e.g. it is a sand bed. |
