PURPOSE:The titled fungicide and algicide that contains bis(tribromomethyl)sulfone and a specific bromine compound as effective ingredients, thus showing high controlling effect against industrially injurious molds and algae in such a low concentration as each component does not show controlling effect, when it is used alone. CONSTITUTION:Bis(tribromomethyl)sulfone, which shows effect against some bacteria, molds and almost all the algae, but low effect against a part of bacteria and molds, and 2-bromo-4'-hydroxyacetophenone, which shows activity of controlling bacteria, molds and algae, however, must be used in a large quantity in order to get adequate effect and/or a mixture thereof with dibromocyanoacetamide, which shows high effect against bacteria, however, low effect against molds and algae are used as active ingredients. The weight ratio of these components is in the range of from 1/0.1-1/10. The resultant product is suitably used as a slime controller in paper making. |
