To construct walls of sliding double glazed windows, upper and lower channels are used to guide the windows with light weight frames. The upper channel is a double channel, with deep recesses between the flanges, enabling the shafts to be lifted for insertion and removal. The edges of the flanges forming the recesses have horizontally projecting ribs which form seals against the sides of the frames. Alternative designs of edge seals are shown. Pref. the windows are made of plastics e.g. acrylic glass. USE/ADVANTAGE - Balconies can be easily converted from summer to winter conditions by removing the glazing.
