The programming device (1) uses a plug-in programming module (3), incorporating at least one set of memory locations for setting and type information relating to a given hearing aid model. Each hearing aid (6,7,8) to be programmed has a memory holding a setting programme for the filter threshold frequencies, the amplification etc., adjusted under control of a control programme for the correct hearing aid model held in the plug-in programming module (3). Pref. the hearing aid parameters can be adjusted to match the hearing of the patient via an operator keyboard and an associated display (11). ADVANTAGE - Simple adaption for use with all types of hearing aid.
