The present invention relates to an improved machine for the automatic separation of endives from their roots. This machine essentially comprises a system enabling the endives E to be grasped in a cultivation tank, holding the endives firmly between transverse partitions, this grasping system permitting deposition of the endives E on a conveyor 6 on which they are held by virtue of a conveyor 7 parallel to the conveyor 6 so as then to bring about, by means of a tool, the separation of the actual endive from the endive roots, whilst a roller 33 is arranged upstream of the conveyor 7 and of the tool in order to interact with the endives E arranged on the conveyor 6 in order to position them correctly after separation by the tool, the roller 33 being controlled by the conveyor 6. This machine makes it possible to process endives at a high rate, without a labour force and with excellent reliability. <IMAGE> |
