PURPOSE:To improve workability by forming a seal base material in which a reinforcing material and a heat resistant material are mutually interlocked in a body, and forming a surface in which tetrafluoroethylene resin or this resin and wire gauze are exposed on a sliding face material which is interlocked with the base material in a body on the spherical sliding face of the base material. CONSTITUTION:A heat resistant seat material 2 of expanded graphite, mica, etc. is superposed on a reinforcing material 1 composed of wire gauze of metallic fiber or metallic fine wire, and these are wound up to form a cylindrical body 3. Then, an expanded graphite sheet 4 and a tetrafluoroethylene resin film or tape 5 or the sheet 4, the tape 5 and wire gauze are made pass through between rollers 6, 6 to form a sliding face material 7 in a body. The sliding face material 7 is wound on the outer peripheral face of the cylindrical body 3 with its tetrafluoroethylene resin facing outside to form a preliminary molding body 8. This preliminary molding body 8 is fitted on the outer peripheral face of the core 11 of a metal mold 10 which has a partially spherical portion 9 inside and the preliminary molding body 8 is compressed in its axial direction to obtain a spherical seal body 12. |
