The invention relates to a frame consisting of several lengths assembled to form a selected polygon, the frame being characterised in that the said lengths are formed by mouldings 10, 12, 14 with at least one longitudinal channel 20 along one of their edges, said channel being able to accommodate a border of a canvas 28 placed on said frame and an elongate tensioning device 26 running right the way around the perimeter of the frame and held under tension in said channel 20. <IMAGE>
