A description is given of a vertical storage facility (1), in particular for motor vehicles, which is preferably sunk in a foundation pit (2), having a vertically upright frame formed by two interconnected, vertically upright load-bearing columns. In this arrangement, there is arranged in each load-bearing column, guided in two vertical guides (8) in each case, an endless, drivable, circulating chain (10) which is made up of individual chain links (10a, 10b) which are each connected to one another via a load-bearing and guiding bolt (9) mounted in the guides (8). The respective chain (10) can be deflected around deflection wheels (6, 7) both at the bottom open end and at the top open end of the guides (8). Every second chain link (10b) exhibits a load-bearing arm (11) which extends away outwards from the chain, the two chains (10) each exhibiting, at the same height, in each case one carrying arm (11), in the free ends of which a load-bearing bolt (14) for a horizontal storage platform (3) is mounted in each case. Each storage platform (3) exhibits two load-bearing bolts (14) which are each arranged on one side of the longitudinal axis of said storage platform (3), such that they are located diagonally opposite one another, and are each rotatably mounted in the free end of a load-bearing arm (11) of one of the two chains (10).
