The invention relates to a dipped-beam headlamp for motor vehicles, having a light source which has a filament, arranged axially above the optical axis of the headlamp, having a reflector (1), divided into an upper and a lower half by a plane containing the horizontal and the optical axis of the headlamp, which has sectors. The upper and the lower half of the reflector (1) is in each case subdivided by the planes containing the optical axis (x) of the headlamp into an upper or lower middle sector (15) or (16), into an upper or lower edge sector (11) or (14) located more closely to the centre of the roadway and into an upper or lower edge sector (13) or (12) located more closely to the edge of the roadway. The upper and lower central sectors (15) and (16) of the reflector (1) have a vertex angle (apex angle) of THETA </= 140@.
