In the case of a transition coupling of a plastic pipe on a metal pipe, the plastic pipe has a plastic sleeve for receiving the plug-in end of the metal pipe, a transition shoulder resulting between the plastic pipe and the plastic sleeve. In order to provide a simple, but reliable coupling, it is proposed to provide an annular collar on the metal pipe at an end spacing which is smaller than or equal to the receiving depth of the sleeve. The annular collar serves as a stop for the end of the sleeve in the event of coupling and thus defines the plug-in depth of the metal pipe. A metallic sleeve is then positioned over the resulting step, made up by the sleeve and the annular collar, the two sleeve ends of which are drawn in radially. One drawn-in sleeve end then comes to bear on the transition shoulder of the sleeve, whereas the other sleeve end engages behind the annular collar.
