In a disposable filter having a pleated filter element as an LDL (low density lipoprotein) precipitate filter for separating off cholesterol-containing precipitates from blood plasma, the housing is composed of a deep-drawn film shell (1, 2) having reinforcing channels (2) and ridges (3), which shell is welded on the longitudinal side and is sealed at the ends with covers (4) by gluing (10). Four hinges or folding edges (1'') are provided in the film blank (1) to form a rectangular tube shell cross-section. The inlets and outlets (5, 6) for fluid are fixed in a casting composition (10) which is introduced into the end pieces (4) and seals the ends of the filter element (8) with respect to the housing (1, 4). The filter element (8) is formed from a filter blank laid into a multiplicity of pleats, if required having draining reinforcing layers arranged on both sides, the pleats being arranged in the direction of the tube longitudinal axis, having their two end pleats being joined to be tight against leaks and two pleat stacks (8') being arranged adjacently to form a parallelepiped and the inside of the filter blank formed by the pleats can be supplied with and/or drained of fluid by a flat, funnel-shaped connection element (9) (Fig. 5). <IMAGE>
