In the manufacture of metal articles, the welds must meet both the strength requirements and the requirements with regard to corrosion resistance. The two requirements cannot be combined with one another or can only be combined with one another with considerable expenditure. According to the invention, a method is proposed in which the metal parts (1) are butt-welded with the formation of a weld (2) and in which a metal strip (4) covering the weld (2) in a sealing manner is welded at least to one side (3) of the metal parts (2). The invention can be used wherever high corrosion resistance is also required in addition to considerable strength. <IMAGE>
