The invention concerns a wheelchair for ill and disabled subjects. A supporting frame (20) is arranged between the movable base (1) and the unit (23) comprising a seat (21) and a backrest (22). The seat (21) and the backrest (22) can be adjusted in any angular position relative to one another. The supporting frame (20) supports the unit (23) in an articulated and displaceable manner, on the one hand, and can be infinitely adjusted with regard to its inclination and adjustably held on the base (1), on the other hand. At the same time, the supporting frame (20) essentially comprises several arched struts which are guided so as to be longitudinally displaceable in a retaining member (16) connected to the base (1). The retaining member (16) is in turn guided on vertical supports (11, 12) of the base (1) and can be adjusted in the vertical direction. The unit (23) receiving the patient can thus be infinitely adjusted in any desired position and alignment, e.g. in the sitting position, as a couch, synchronous couch, inclined or upright board, and the like, so that the multifunctional wheelchair is universally applicable. <IMAGE>
