METHOD OF AND ARRANGEMENT FOR DETERMINING THE POSITION OF POINTS ASSIGNED TO A PLANAR COORDINATE SYSTEM, PARTICULARLY FOR DIGITALIZING PLANAR FIGURES

In a method of determining the position of points assigned to a planar coordinate system, comprising the steps of moving a cursor over selected points having position to be determined, determining the coordinates of the selected points in a time sequence one after another, storing the coordinates determined and forwarding respective data to the place of applying them, the novelty is in the further steps of generating a changing magnetic field by means of the moved cursor, detecting the magnetic field generated by the cursor in at least two places, linearizing and digitalizing the detected signals and determining the required coordinates on the basis of the digitalized signals. The arrangement being capable also of carrying out the method as proposed by the invention comprises a cursor (14), detecting means for sensing the position of the cursor (14), signal generating means (1) connected to the cursor (14) and digital signal processing means (3). The essence lies in that the cursor (14) consists of a coil, the signal generating means (1) are equipped with a signal generating unit (11) and a unit level regulating (12) connected with the signal generating unit (11), further that the detecting means arranged along a plane are constituted by at least two separate detecting coils (21, 22), wherein the detecting coils are connected through respective amplifying and linearizing means (23, 24), further analog-to-digital converters (25, 26) to first and second input data storing means (31, 32) arranged on the input of a control process unit (33), and the control process unit (33) is connected with a micro-program storage (34) from one side and an output data storing means (35) and a computer interface (36) from the other side.
