A traction control system is described, in which the brake pressure on the driven wheels is controlled in the event of a tendency to spin. For this purpose, a pressure source is connected by means of a reversing valve to lines leading to the brakes of the driven wheels. Actual control is performed by control valves inserted into the said line. On termination of the brake pressure control the reversing valve is for a period still held in that position in which the pressure source is connected and the control valves during this period are set to their stabilising position.
