Electrical junction box

An electrical junction box consists essentially of a housing (1) which has a peripheral wall (2) and a rear wall (3) and is open at its front. Installed cables (lines, leads) can be connected to contacts in the junction box. In order to be able to fit switches, plug sockets or power supply units for electrical appliances wherever such a junction box is installed, without any loose cables or cables installed on the wall surface, the contacts in the junction box are constructed as sliding contacts (sliding contact sockets 5, 6, 7) whose axes run parallel to a longitudinal axis (4) of the housing (1). The contacts are arranged exclusively in the vicinity of the peripheral wall (2), so that a free space (12) remains in the centre of the junction box. An insert element can be pushed into the free space, said insert element essentially filling the free space and being provided with plug contacts in order to make contact. <IMAGE>
