A pressure-relief valve for flowing media, having a closing element whose closing force can be adjusted and which can be raised from its seat by operating an adjusting device is intended to be improved such that the changeover from the closed to the raised position and vice-versa can be carried out without influencing the setting for the closing force. It is intended to be possible to adjust the closing force in both positions. In this case, it is intended that the changeover from the one position to the other should be capable of being carried out reliably, simply and quickly. For this purpose, it is provided that the adjusting device contains a bistable switching device (11, 24) by means of which the closing element (4) is raised into a raised position and is pressed in a closed position under the influence of the previously set closing force onto the seat (3).
