PURPOSE:To secure flatness of a recording sheet, reduce the gap between the sheet and a head and prevent the head from being clogged with sheet dust, by providing sheet-pressing means on a carriage on the upstream and downstream sides in a scanning direction of a printing part. CONSTITUTION:Sheet-pressing means 17, 18 are provided on a carriage 4 on the upstream and downstream sides in a scanning direction (left-right direction) of a printing part (recording head 6). The sheet-pressing means 17 on the upstream side of the printing part 6 constitutes a sheet dust-removing means, whereas the sheet-pressing means 18 on the downstream side constitutes an ink-blotting means. Specifically, the sheet dust-removing means 17 comprises, for example, a tacky roller, whereas the ink-blotting means 18 comprises a roller with an adsorbent sheet wound thereon or a roller having porous material having open pores on its surface. With the pressing rollers 17, 18 provided, the flatness of a recording sheet 1 is enhanced, the gap between the recording head 6 and the sheet 1 can be reduced, and image quality is enhanced. Since printing is conducted on the recording sheet 1 where sheet dust thereon are already cleared by the roller 17, defective printing due to clogging of the head can be prevented. |
