PURPOSE:To avoid invasion of heat from a radiated light to accessory elements, to suppress decrease in the performance of the element due to the heat and to improve performance as the whole of a magnet by incorporating the elements such as a joint of superconducting wire material, a permanent current switch, current leads, etc., in the inlet side of deflected charged particles. CONSTITUTION:In a charged particle deflecting superconducting magnet 1 composed by providing a superconducting coil 2 with a curvature corresponding to the deflecting orbit A of charged particles and incorporating the coil 2 in a cryostat, accessory elements such as a joint of a superconducting wire material 4, a permanent current switch 3, current leads 5, etc., are contained in the inlet side of deflected charged particles. For example, if electrons and protons are deflected by 90 deg., energy is radiated as synchrotron radiated light to a shaded part in the drawing. A region where a deflecting magnetic field does not exist and hence a region B where the synchrotron radiated light is not received can be added to the inlet side of the cryostat, and the invasion of heat from the radiated light to the elements can be avoided by incorporating the elements in the region B. |
