PURPOSE:To lap a gear through a simple mechanism by relatively oscillating a pair of gears centering around a predetermined oscillation center vertical to a flat face including the directions of an assembly distance and of an offset to change the assembly distance and the offset between the gears. CONSTITUTION:A pinion gear 10 is oscillated centering around a predetermined oscillation center P vertical to a flat face including the directions of a assembly distance H and of an offset V of the pinion gear 10, namely one parallel to a paper face where the figure is drawn. In lapping the pinion gear 10 and a ring gear 12, the gears 10, 12 are engagingly rotated by a rotary driving device, and the pinion gear 10 is oscillated around the oscillation center P. Consequently, variation of the then engaging state of the gear 10 with the ring gear 12, for example a direction of movement of its tooth bearing position, is similar to the variation of their engaging state in a case where the gears 10, 12 are loaded when they are actually used with them mutually engaged, and the gears 10, 12 can therefore be finely lapped. |
