The invention relates to an automatic adjusting device for a hydraulically and mechanically operated disc brake in which the intention is to prevent adjustment under high braking forces. The invention achieves this by means of an inner piston which projects through the end wall of the brake piston and is actuated by the lining carrier as soon as a sufficient force is exerted on the brake linings. The inner piston, which is displaced into the interior of the brake piston, thus comes into frictional engagement with an adjusting nut, thereby preventing adjustment by the adjusting device. The invention furthermore envisages the support of the brake piston within an inner cylinder which is rigidly connected to the hand-brake piston and is axially displaceable within the housing. <IMAGE>
