The invention relates to a method and a device for removing burr or an irregular edge on the front end of a tubular workpiece formed in particular by rotary swaging on a mandrel. On account of production or motion tolerances, burr or an irregular edge often develops at the front end of the tube during the forming operation. According to the invention, this burr or irregular edge is bent by the forming tool into a step of the mandrel and is then sheared off by an axial movement of the mandrel relative to the workpiece.
