PURPOSE:To prevent the performance of a semiconductor device from decreasing due to the cause of an optical coupling by providing a region for shielding a light between semiconductor elements formed in a semiconductor substrate, reflecting it or absorbing it in an optical path in the substrate. CONSTITUTION:P-N junctions 3, 4 for forming a semiconductor element are formed in a region isolated by an electrically insulating region 1 on a semiconductor substrate, and a light shielding region 2 is formed at the intermediate part of the junctions 3, 4. The region 2 so operates as not to affect an influence to the other P-N junction due to the arrival of the light to the P-N junction when one of the junctions 3, 4 irradiates a light and shields a lateral light passing the substrate. This semiconductor device may be composed only of a light shielding region 2a, added with a light shielding region 2b to compose to surround the junction 3 becoming a light emitting side, added with a light shielding region 2c to compose to surround the junction 4 becoming a photodetecting side, or further formed with light shielding regions 2a-2c to compose to individually surround all the junctions 3, 4. |
