<p>Placing a roll (4) of photosensitive material (43) in a cassette and feeding out the end (45) of the strip (15) through the lightlock (16) at the same time proves to give many a problem, the more during series handling, like damaging the strip and irreversibly telescoping out of the roll. With the new cassette the roll can be handled in horizontal position. The cassette has a hinge (21) opposite the light-lock split (16), is extrudable in opened form by means of a simpler die, both walls (17, 18) of the light-lock can be lined with soft material (19, 20) in the opened position, the roll (4) can be placed in it in horizontal position and the end (45) of the strip over one of the walls (17) of the light-lock. Still maintained in the same position the cassette is shut home and both covers (3) can be fitted. The covers each have a mandrel (5) to carry the roll in the closed cassette free of contact with the walls, each mandrel having an excentric extension (37) with a sloping top face (36). The top face lifting the hollow core (41) and the roll (4) when the covers (3) are being fitted by means of a special guiding tool.</p> |
