摘要 PURPOSE:To contrive remarkable reduction of production cost, by cultivating a microorganism belonging to Streptomyces.noursei and capable of producing epsilon-polylysine in a culture medium. CONSTITUTION:A strain, capable of assimilating waste molasses, etc., and producing epsilon-polylysine is searched for to afford the aimed microorganism (A), belonging to Streptomyces-noursei (FERM-P 9797), capable of producing the epsilon-polylysine and having the following properties. Sporulating mycelia; simple branched and closed spiral form. Structure of spore; circular or elliptical and size of 1.2-1.5mu. Growth temperature; 15-40 deg.C. Assimilating D-glucose without assimilating D-xylose, etc. The strain (A) is then inoculated into a culture medium containing a carbon source, such as sucrose or waste molasses, a nitrogen source, such as peptone, and cultivated at about 30 deg.C and pH 3.5-5.0 for 24-100hr to provide a culture component (B), which is subsequently centrifuged to remove microbial cells. The resultant filtrate is then subjected to treatment, such as concentration or crystallization, to isolate the aimed epsilon-polylysine.
