PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity and granular characteristic by using silver halide particles of a specific size to constitute at least one layer of emulsion layers and allowing silver iodobromide contg. a specific ratio of silver iodide to exist in a distinct laminar structure in the silver halide particles and specifying the content of the silver iodide over the entire part of the particles. CONSTITUTION:The emulsion in at least one layer of the emulsion layers consists of the chemically sensitized silver halide particles having <=1.7mum average particle size and the silver iodobromide contg. 30-45mol.% silver iodide exists in the silver halide particles by having the distinct laminar structure; in addition, the content of the silver iodide over the entire particles is specified to <=15mol.% The preferable total content of the silver iodide is 15-25%, more particularly preferably 15-20mol.%. The high sensitivity, decreased fogging and excellent granular characteristic are thereby obtd. |
