PURPOSE: To eliminate the use for a coupling liquid for dipping an object to be inspected and a device itself by installing an ultrasonic transmitter and a receiver in two opposite hollow wheels that rotate around each shaft that is in one piece with a frame. CONSTITUTION: Hollow wheels 1 and 2 with peripheral outer wheels 3 and 4 rotate around shafts 5 and 6 that forms one piece with a frame 7. An ultrasonic receiver/ 9 is arranged in the wheel 1 and receives echo waves that arrive from a contact band 20 between the outermost wheel 3 and a surface S of the object to be detected. An ultrasonic wave transmitter 17 is arranged in the wheel 2 and transmits ultrasonic waves toward a contact band 18 between the outermost wheel 4 and the surface S. Also, the transmitter 17 is mounted on a cylindrical shaft 21, is rotated via a rod 26, a screw 25, and a traveling control part 24 by rotating a knurl knob 27, thus adjusting the incidence angle of ultrasonic waves. Also, a receiver 19 and the transmitter 17 positively perform ultrasonic coupling by coupling liquids 32 and 30 for surrounding a support 31 and middle parts 28 and 29 within a sealed closure formed by wheels 1 and 2 and sealing shafts 8 and 9. |
