PURPOSE:To prevent the development of defect in a product by dividing cooling water passage in a drum into more than the specific number of zones and controlling temp. and flow rate of the cooling water in each zone. CONSTITUTION:The cooling drum 11 is divided into the three zones in the shaft direction and also cooling water supplying pipes 12, 13, 14 are arranged at each zone. In each supplying pipe 12-14, opening part 12a, 13a, 14a and cooling water outlet 12b, 13b, 14b are arranged and a cooling water introducing pipe providing a flow rate adjusting valve is connected with the opening part, respectively. At the time of continuously casting a metal strip by supplying molten metal into gap formed with one pair of the cooling drums 11, the temp. and the flow rate of cooling water in each zone I, II, III are changed to single or to both at the same time, to control so as to cancel the gap variating with heat at the time of casting. By this method, as the solidified shell is uniformly rolled down the development of the defect in the metal strip product is prevented. |
