PURPOSE:To eliminate defocus under appropriate exposure and to take a picture at an appropriate exposure level by providing an automatic exposure control means controlling automatic exposure according to a diaphragm value ensuring AF accuracy. CONSTITUTION:Automatic exposure is controlled by setting a diaphragm and a shutter speed based on a value metered by a photometry sensor 13 so as to attain an appropriate exposure. At that time, a diaphragm value (opening side) is set at a value ensuring AF accuracy. Photometry data complying with an output from the photometry sensor 13 is read out to obtain an EV value. Then, the upper limit of a diaphragm on the opening side is set at a value ensuring AF accuracy, and the diaphragm value and the shutter speed are determined by referring to some exposure program. Afterwards, an AF action begins, and at the end of focusing, releasing is carried out to take a picture. Automatic exposure is controlled at the diaphragm value ensuring AF accuracy, and therefore out-of-focus does not occur, and photographing is possible at an appropriate exposure level. |
