<p>Scorching of natural and synthetic rubber mixes attributed to currently used anti-oxidants, furnace black, thiazolesulpheneamide accelerators is inhibited to allow sufficient handling time w.r.t. individual working methods and plants by adding to the usual mixes about 0.1-5.0, usually 0.4-2.0 pts. wt. per 100 rubber hydrocarbon an N-thiosulphonamide of general formula:- R-SO2-N (where R, R' is -aryl, or -alkyl, or -cycloalkyl; R" is -aryl, or -alkyl, or -cycloalkyl, or -H, or -SR'", or -SO2R'"; R'" is -aryl, or -alkyl, or -cycloalkyl) with some combinations partic. claimed, and mixes contng. such inhibitors claimed also. Examples for the prepn. of some N-thiosulphonamides are given, e.g. N-trichlormethyl-thio-N-phenylbenzeneamide, or N-phenyl-thio-N-methylbenzeneamide, or N-phenyl-thio-N-cyclohexylbenzeneamide, etc. Measured in rotor Mooney viscosimeter for mins. viscosity increase by 5 points at 121 degrees C., rubber mixes with such inhibitors are (II) to 23% slower, depending on type used, than similar mix without an N-thiosulphonamide.</p> |
