PURPOSE:To improve the quality of a product and to extend the service life of side weirs by arranging an endless belt composing of flexible thin plate at both ends of pouring basin part, pushing the thin plate to both side faces of cooling drums and also shifting toward casting direction. CONSTITUTION:The thin plates 11 of steel plate, etc., having flexibility are endlessly arranged as rotatable at both end parts of the cooling drums 1a, 1b forming the pouring basin pat. Further, pads 12a, 12b for pressurizing are arranged at insides of the thin plates 11, respectively, to push the thin plates 11 to the end parts of the cooling drums 1a, 1b through pressurized fluid from the pads 12a, 12b. While synchronously shifting the thin plate 11 with pulleys 14a, 14b toward casting direction, metal strip 6 is continuously cast. As the thin plate 11 is surely brought into close contact with the side faces of the cooling drums 1a, 1b, the casting is stably executed. As the development of the defect is prevented, the quality of the product is improved and the service life of the side weir is extended. |
