PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having excellent durability and traveling property by successively laminating a nonmagnetic layer having a specific temp. or above of thermal deformation temp., thin magnetic metallic film layer, thin nonmagnetic metallic film layer consisting of a metal and/or metal compd., and lubricating agent layer. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic recording medium is formed by laminating the nonmagnetic base 1 having >=140 deg.C thermal deformation temp., the thin magnetic metallic film layer 2, the thin nonmagnetic film layer 3 consisting of the metal and/or metal compd. and the lubricating agent layer 4 in this order. Since the thermal deformation temp. of the nonmagnetic base 1 is >=140 deg.C, there is no deformation of the nonmagnetic base 1 arising from a temp. rise at the time of forming the thin magnetic metallic film layer on the nonmagnetic base 1 and the film forming conditions for the thin magnetic metallic film layer can be relieved. In addition, the total of the layer thicknesses of the thin nonmagnetic film layer 3 and the lubricating agent layer 4 is not so large as to entail an increase of a spacing loss. As a result, the durability and traveling property are enhanced without deteriorating the electromagnetic conversion characteristics. |
