PURPOSE:To improve the durability of the casting mold itself and the quality and yield of an ingot in a casting mold body made of copper by applying a surface coating layer for improving durability and ingot quality on the surface of said body where the casting mold contacts with the product ingot and the other casting mold. CONSTITUTION:A surface coating layer for improving durability and ingot quality is applied on the surface of a rotary type mold for continuous casting where the casting mold body made of copper or a copper alloy contacts with the product ingot and the surface where the body contacts with the other casting mold. Nickel or a nickel alloy such as nickel-iron, nikel-tungsten or the like is used for the coating layer. A carbon layer and a ceramic layer are usable in some cases. |
