<p>Self-supporting panels made only of phenolic resin with a surface skin or crust of dense resin and a core of foamed structure. The core material may have a closed cell structure or a permeable structure generated by heat treatments to burst some of the internal cell walls. Surface layers may incorporate reinforcing fabrics etc., or decorative moulded relief patterns. For building construction panels offering insulation with fire resistance in relative densities between 0.06 and 0.1. Offered as an alternative to sandwich structures of foam slabs and metal facing sheets which suffer from acidic corrosion of the metal and which usually require special surface prepn. prior to subsequent painting.</p> |
