Dining room tongs serving to crack walnuts, hazelnuts, almonds. The present invention consists of a pair of tongs of a pleasant and original shape allowing the shells of walnuts, hazelnuts and almonds to be cracked easily, without danger or effort, in order to eat them. These tongs are formed of a moving jaw E and a fixed jaw A which are adjustable to the size of the nut. Using mechanical gearing-down in the casing B, started by acting on the handles M and F, the jaws crush the nut N in steps of 4 to 5 mm for each total closing of the handles. When the shell of the nut cracks, the jaws stay in position, preventing the nut from being crushed and also fingers from being pinched. <IMAGE>
