PURPOSE:To convert the wavelength of a light signal to another wavelength and to vary the wavelength by providing, an active region for starting oscillating with an intrinsic wavelength, a phase regulating region for controlling the oscillation wavelength and a Bragg's reflecting region for shifting the oscillation wavelength when the input light signal having a predetermined wavelength is incident. CONSTITUTION:An active region A for starting oscillating an intrinsic wavelength when electrodes 36A, 36C for applying bias currents IA1, IA2 are split and an input light signal LIN having a predetermined wavelength is incident, a phase regulating region P provided in connection with the region A for controlling an oscillation wavelength by altering a bias current IP, and a Bragg's reflecting region D provided in connection with the region P for shifting the oscillation wavelength by altering a bias current ID are provided. Thus, the wavelength of the input light signal can be converted, the wavelength can be varied, and its control can be performed. |
