PURPOSE:To clarify the mechanisms of oxidation reduction and reaction, by supplying a gas to be measured, on the side of a working electrode with respect to a solid state electrolyte, supplying electric power, which is controlled at a constant voltage or a constant current, to the solid state electrolyte, and measuring the electrochemical characteristics of the gas. CONSTITUTION:In a detector 10, a solid state electrolyte 11 is arranged at the center of a reacting tubes. The reacting tubes are double tubes comprising an outer tube 12 made of alumina and the like and an inner tube 13 made of quartz glass and the like. Electrodes 16 are applied on both sides of the solid state electrolyte 11. The electrode 16, which is applied on one side, is connected to a potentiogalvanostat through a working electrode 17. The electrode 16, which is applied on the other side, is connected to a potentiogalvanostat through a counter electrode 18. A gas to be measured is supplied to the side of the working electrode 17 with respect to the solid state electrolyte 11. Power, which is controlled at a constant voltage or a constant current, is supplied to the solid state electrolyte 11. The electrochemical characteristics, which are generated by the supply of the power, are measured. The electrochemical characteristics of the solid state electrolyte itself are subtracted from the measured data in an operating part, and the electrochemical characteristics of the gas to be measured are obtained. |
