A sufficiently stable, sufficiently concentrated bleaching bath is obtained if the essential constituents are divided into two aqueous solutions of which one contains from 1 to 3 mol/l of FeBr3 and the other contains from 0.5 to 2 mol/l of an ammonium salt of an aminopolycarboxylic acid.
