PURPOSE:To make a device small in size as well as to contrive an improvement in responsibility for torque transmission by housing No.1 and No.2 resistance plates which are interchangeably engaged with No.1 and No.2 rotating members respectively, and working fluid sheared by these plates within a working chamber, arranging an electromagnet in a row onto the outer circumference of both of the rotating members with a gap provided, and thereby providing magnetic fluid therein. CONSTITUTION:No.1 rotating member 9 is composed of an inner hub installed over the spline of an output shaft 5 and of an inner cylinder 8, No.2 rotating member 13 is composed of an outer cylinder 10 and of a right and a left wall member, and No.1 magnetic fluid 31 is filled in a working chamber 14 formed by the aforesaid rotating members. In addition, No.1 and No.2 resistance plates 15 and 16 made of non-magnetic material are alternately installed over the splines of the inner and outer cylinders 8 and 10 within the working chamber 14, and an electromagnet 17 is arranged onto the outer circumferential side of the outer cylinder 10 with a gap 10 provided wherein No.2 magnetic fluid 27 is filled so as to be retained. Hence, response for torque transmission due to change in the shearing resistance of No.1 magnetic fluid 31 is improved, the electromagnet can thereby be made small in size. |
