A machine for disintegrating a material through impact, wherein the machine incorporates a hollow impeller rotating about an essentially vertical axis, an upwardly open inlet opening for material, and radially outward directed outlet ducts 40 for material. The ducts 40 are sufficiently narrow to prevent the material from smashing with high impact force against their walls. A plurality of anvils have been arranged to be impacted by the material from the ducts 40. One side wall in each duct 40 is lined with a plate made from a ceramic material, for example aluminium oxide. <IMAGE>
