PURPOSE:To enable recording at high speed and low cost even when a monotone image is received by providing a monotone recording part in addition to a color recording part and selectively using either one of two recording parts automatically in response to a received image. CONSTITUTION:A color/monotone identification part 14 identifies whether image information transmitted by means of discrimination information is color image information or monotone image information, and inputs the discrimination result to a system control part 8. The image information transmitted by a circuit 15 is stored in a code memory 12 through a communications control part 16, and decoded by a decoding part 9. The decoded data is stored in a page memory 10. A system control part 5 selectively acutates either one of the monotone recording part 11 and color recording part 13 depending on the identification result which is entered from the color/monotone identification part 14. If received image information is monotone image information, the system control part 8 selects the monotone recording part 11, and records image information recorded in the page memory 10 on recording paper using a thermosensitive recording TPH 11a. |
