1371880 Compactors ELECTROLUX AB 19 April 1973 [24 April 1972] 19192/73 Heading B8C A compactor comprises a pressure plate 19 reciprocable in a tubular element 15 to compact material against a base-plate 20, the pressure plate being movable laterally of the tubular element to permit entry of the material into the element, and the tubular element being pivotally mounted near its upper end at 14 to swing the bottom of the element clear of the plate 20 for removal of the compacted material. A bag may be positioned over the tubular element. The plate 19 may be reciprocated by a piston cylinder unit 16 or a rack and pinion drive, and is movable laterally along rails 18 by a rack and pinion assembly on ropes. The base-plate 20 and tubular element 15 may be curved as shown to permit the pivoting of the element 15 or the plate may be axially displaceable by means connected to the pivoting means of the element 15.
